Unintentional Empowerment: How Not Helping Me Helped Me Grow

Although you weren’t there for me when I was at my lowest, I will help you if you need it. You’re everything I pray not to be. – Marion Bekoe

There’s a profound gratitude I hold for those who, at pivotal moments in my life, chose not to extend a helping hand. While it may have seemed like I needed their assistance at the time, their decision ultimately led to my self-sufficiency, resilience, and a deeper capacity to support others. Looking back, I realize that their actions, or lack thereof, were integral to the divine plan that shaped my journey.

Rather than allowing their refusal to aid me to harden my heart, it had the opposite effect—it softened it. In the face of trials, setbacks, and disappointments, it’s easy for one’s heart to grow calloused and closed off. Many choose to withhold help from others as a result of feeling let down themselves. However, my own experiences softened my heart and instilled in me a profound empathy for those facing similar challenges.

This transformation lies at the heart of Cosgn. It is my response to the hardships I faced—an earnest desire to reach out and provide support to others in their times of need. Cosgn wouldn’t exist today if I had received the assistance I thought I needed back then. Instead, it emerged as a testament to the power of resilience and the unintended empowerment that can arise from life’s adversities.

With Cosgn by your side, you can rest assured that we will always be there to extend a helping hand. Our mission is to empower individuals and startups alike, fostering a community where support and compassion abound. Just as I have been uplifted by the kindness of others, it is my hope that together, we can create a ripple effect of empowerment and generosity that transcends boundaries and transforms lives.

Trials, setbacks, and disappointments tend to harden people’s hearts, and they then decide not to help others because no one was there for them when they needed it the most. My trials soften my heart to reach out and help others because I know how it feels to be let down and disappointed. – Marion Bekoe
