Being Pushed Out: A Sign You’re Worth More

Sometimes you get pushed out not because you’re not worth it, you’re worth more. – Marion Bekoe

I wrote this quote during what I believed was the worst time of my life. Whenever I read it, it used to make me sad. But now, I feel grateful.

In the span of one month, I lost both of my jobs at a hospital. Yes, I have a medical background and no business experience. A woman at my first job lied, claiming I pushed her. Without any camera footage or proof, they took her word over mine, and I was let go. At the second job, I was defending a colleague from a rude and abusive client. I must have said some harsh truths, and I was let go.

I felt powerless because my family depended on my income for survival. I promised myself never to let anyone have that power over me again. That’s how I became an entrepreneur.

Looking back, I am grateful to the woman who lied about me. She was part of my journey, meant to push me out. I’m not entirely sure about the role the rude client played, but I am grateful for the opportunity to defend a colleague.

Others might have gone looking for another job, which is the right and easy thing to do. But I, being who I am, said never again. I told myself I am worth more. I had to believe it to become it. This happened because I’m worth more.

Things might not be going as planned, but just know that it is part of the plan. With the right mindset and perception, I choose to see the good in every bad situation and be grateful for the good I choose to see.

If I hadn’t been fired, there wouldn’t be Cosgn today. I thank those who fired me because now I have the opportunity to be free and do what I love every day—helping people.
